Introducing headliner for this year, The Asian Sexsation, CALAMITY CHANG!
Calamity Chang is one of the busiest burlesque performer and producer in NYC with 2 longstanding weekly shows, 2 monthly shows, and she also performs regularly in other producers' shows.
Calamity has performed for Brooke Shields and the cast of The Addams Family, Corey Miller of LA Ink, Moby's metal band DiamondSnake, and she has appeared in several reality TV shows such as "Oddities" (Science Channel) and "My Big Redneck Vacation" (Country Music Television). Besides seeing Calamity on stage covered with rhinestones and lush feathers stripteasing to vintage Asian music and classics, you can also see her in the breakout NC-17 film of 2011 "Shame" by Steve McQueen starring Michael Fassbender.
Her burlesque style is an unique blend of exotic and traditional. Inspired by her Chinese heritage, Calamity is known for her mesmerizing 1920's Old Shanghai-style acts reminiscent of a nostalgic era long gone. But this Asian Sexsation is also known for her powerful fetish acts in which she subverts traditional fetishized female roles.
She is the Burlesque Performer and Producer in Residence at world-renowed cocktail speakeasy bar Employees Only ("Silky Sundays") and Macao Trading Company ("Drunken Dragon Nights") both in NYC.
Calamity also loves being a NY School of Burlesque instructor where she regularly teaches the class "Producing Burlesque". In addition, she is also a co-mentor (with Jonny Porkpie) in the "Driver's Seat" program where they mentor and encourage female performers to take the driver's seat and produce their own shows.
